Did he? Which one?

It’s really pathetic how often these days, people want apologies for imaginary slights.

Given the choice between Adam X or Vulcan as the 3rd Summers Brother, Vulcan (Gabriel Summers) is still a better choice than Adam X.

Adam X looks like every early 90s stereotype, all rolled into one character with a personality that is as engaging as a mayonnaise.

I agree. I get that every character is someone’s favorite (it seems especially true with the X-Men characters), but I do not get the love for this character at all. I’ve read some of the stories he’s been in and I don’t see anything redeeming about him.

But beyond that, this character belongs to Marvel. It’s their toy to play with as they see fit, to provide the best stories they can. They don’t shit on their properties for the sake of doing so, or to flip off their paying customers.

 Some fans have this self entitled sense of ownership over the character, and I see it more and more. Any deviation from what they deem fit is wound on them, and Marvel is the horrible entity responsible for perpetrating it. I am certainly not happy with Cyclops’ closing act of the last run, but that’s for me to deal with. Marvel did not disrespect me. For whatever reason, they thought this was the best way to go.

Very true. I find the sense of entitlement or ownership with these characters so bizarre. I realize the emotional investment that people have with the characters (there are some that I am very invested in), but how that translates to ownership and then to passive aggressive or not so passive attacks on the creators and stewards of the characters makes no sense. There are so many other outlets. Reading back issues or even fan fic to continue the adventures of the character that you have in your head. I also realize that I used Adam X the X-Treme and emotional investment in the same sentence. ;)

Just wondering, have you been reading the new X-Men launches?

I have. Now that Uncanny has been released I should be giving my thoughts on the current line, soon.
I didn’t want to go too much into preconceived notions, running out of an unhappy closing to what I feel started out as a great run.
I think there’s been enough time that it can stand on its own.

My biggest gripe about Cyclops’ alleged fate is that they haven’t showed it. Cyclops and an army of mutants vs. Black Bolt and the Inhumans is something I would have loved to see. That said, I have my doubts he is actually gone.
